GTM R2 at NURBURGRING

The GTM championship welcomes everyone. Compete in a regional grassroots esports event. Come to VRROOM and race for glory in iconic GT3 sports cars.

Round two at the Nurburgring GP circuit on 2nd August 2023 was a sell out. We welcomed back drivers who competed at Donington Park alongside new drivers from our growing community. With every driver registered at race control, qualifying begun at 7.35pm.

Liam Carter qualified fastest with a lap time of 1:55. 698, followed by Jamie Snelling and Samuel Arthur. Less than half a second separated the top three. It can be challenging to find space, set a fast lap and stay within track limits. This is the reality of racing – it throws up challenges that you might not otherwise encounter during a practice session or hot lap challenge.

There were four races across the evening. Some drivers managed to escape bruising midfield battles and go on to podium finishes, while others got bogged down in traffic. Our GTM championship races are never dull. Watching these races from the bar is highly entertaining. There is a lot of thrills and spills to keep everyone engaged.

The results from the four races at the Nurburgring are combined with those from Donington to provide an overall championship standing. Each driver is awarded championship points based on the qualifying plus their two race results. A driver’s best performance from four different circuits counts towards their championship total. With eight races planned, there is still plenty of opportunity for new comers to join in the fun and even win the championship outright.

We encourage those interested in competing in Round three, scheduled for Wednesday 30th August on Brand Hatch GP circuit to reserve their place (book online) and to come down prior to the event and see how their lap times compare.
